So I just installed a fresh Debian/gnu Linux on a 10+ year old laptop, just to have a device for joining zoom calls... Don't want to have that software on my systems, but need to attend some zoom meetings...
I'm so happy that there are free operating systems, which still support such old hardware. Wouldn't be thinkable with Windows or macos...
(and I'm ashamed that I exploit the free os just to install crapware...)
@mrmcmayhem
Debian you mean? https://www.debian.org/
@martin crapware is also an exercise in freedom 0, fwiw
@martin I've got a refurbished 11 year old HP Elitebook. Fitted SSD, upgraded to full 16Gb RAM, new battery - weighs a lot, but is semi-ruggedised. Running Ubuntu 18.04. Actually more powerful than my Macs. Excellent machine.
@martin
got a link to the os?
